Whenever you laugh, frown or concentrate your facial muscles contract and your skin creases. As we age our skin starts to lose its elasticity and creases deepen into lines that become permanently etched on our faces. Botulinum Toxin (Botox) is very effective way of treating wrinkles, laughter and frown lines.
Our Botox Nurse Specialist is an active member of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) and works within the RCN framework. She has a tremendous amount of experience using Botox and currently administers this on a daily basis within the NHS. In addition to this she has been trained in facial aesthetic techniques by the Harley Street Cosmetic Surgeon, Dr Maurizio Veil. Her current practice is governed by the Harley Street Consultant Dr Mark Harrison.
It is a simple and safe procedure. A tiny sterile needle is used to inject a very small amount of Botox into specific facial muscles. The treatment only takes a few minutes and is administered in a safe clinical environment. Botox is also used extremely effectively for people with excessive sweating problems and can be injected into the axilla.
Botox takes effect gradually over 2-5 days and will peak at approximately 2-3 weeks. The desired effects last approximately 3-4 month but will vary slightly with each individual.
Side effects are uncommon and minimal because the effects of Botox are completely reversible, any side effects are temporary. There is a slight risk of bruising which will disappear within a few days. Some clients report a headache following treatment. In very rare cases, slight droopiness of the eyelid has been reported; this usually corrects itself within about two weeks.
