So what’s the difference between the two? Quite simply there isn’t one, a Podiatrist is now considered a more up to date term for Chiropodist. The main aim of both is to diagnose and treat abnormalities of the lower limb. We will give professional advice on the prevention of foot problems and proper care of the foot.
If your feet are hurting it may be an indication of a more serious problem so it is important that you see a qualified Chiropodist/Podiatrist.
Anyone now using the term Chiropodist or Podiatrist must be registered with the Health Professions Council. All Podiatrists must be educated to degree level with usually a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry. Some Chiropodists may practice without this qualification but should have undertaken further training in their field to ensure that they are clinically safe to practice. All podiatrists at this clinic are registered with both the Health Professions Council and the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists.
Our podiatry team are also encouraged to regularly attend further Professional Development Seminars to keep up to date with the latest medical research and techniques. Our work may also involve working closely with other Allied Health and Medical Professionals.
